Who is the “Skeptical Farmer” ? I am not really a skeptic at all. At least not in the “we didn’t actually land on the moon” kind of way. I am not into conspiracy theories, but they do serve a purpose. They tend to open your mind up, and force you to expand your network of news and information, beyond traditional aggregated media. Only when you start reading information and news beyond heavily aggregated media sources, like CNN, do you see many viewpoints on a single issue.
Our society has placed so much emphasis on news as entertainment, we have been lulled into watching news with the best production values, without realizing that much of the mainstream media comes our way, from a very limited pool of sources. The internet has allowed a revolution in alternative news, and its dissemination.
What I am most interested in, is bringing interesting stories to the attention of people, and asking the tough questions. I do have an opinionated slant, and that is adequately reflected in my blog postings, and original content. If you disagree, leave a comment, or send me an email. I am always interested in hearing from different points of view, even if they are wrong. Just kidding.
In the real world, I am a sheep farmer (Rockyford, Alberta), a business operator (insulation general contracting in Calgary, Alberta), a tech geek, a computer programmer, a woodworking hobbyist, a website designer, a podcast listener, a rampant “twitterer”, a Dad, a lacrosse and hockey coach, and very interested in extra-ordinary stories. My wife, Pam and I, are well on our way to successfully raising 4 kids, on our farm, Serviceberry Acres.
Currently, one of my favorite podcasts is “No Agenda” with Adam Curry and John C. Dvorak. Its a growing form of social news, where community researched news is feed through to the podcasters, and an interesting chat, twice weekly results.
I am not afraid to be politically incorrect, I am not afraid to challenge the notions of human involvment in “climate change”, and I am not afraid to criticize social and institutional challenges to the rural lifestyle.
